NEW
DEVELOPMENTs

A COURSE TO SUPPORT MARRIAGES

PCUK have been working collaboratively with Marriage Resource to develop an adapted version of the Resourcing Pastoral Carers Course that centers on supporting and caring for marriages. The core elements of the Resourcing Pastoral Carers Course remain but some of the examples and exercises have been adapted to make them more relevant and helpful to those carers who specifically support couples and marriages.

If you would like to know more about the course, run a course in your location or become a trainer to deliver the course, please be in touch with the director of PC

RESOURCING PASTORAL CARERS COURSE

A RESOURCE FOR SOME OF CHURCH

This 10 session, trainer led course is available through our regional training scheme. The course aims to help develop a fuller understanding of, and skills in, pastoral care. It covers; a christian perspective of pastoral care, human need, the caring relationship, listening skills, safe practice, other resources and reflective practice. A certificate of attendance is given upon completion of the 20 hours training and additional 20 hours reflective practice elements.

DEVELOPING QUALITY RELATIONSHIPS

A RESOURCE FOR ALL OF CHURCH

This 2 hour trainer led worship considers the development of quality relationships in our churches and communities in response to the command to love on another, grow disciples and participate in God's mission of reconciliation. It can be delivered to small or large groups in an evening, daytime or extended Sunday service. It looks at what makes and diminishes quality relationships, how we were originally created for relationships, how Jesus related to people and explores John 13: 34-35. Trainers use scripture, personal experiences, group discussion and powerpoint.  If you are interested in having a DQR workshop or hosting one please contact our office for more information.

TRAINING THE
TRAINERS

A RESOURCE FOR FEW OF CHURCH

This three day residential course enables trainers to become part of pastoral care uk’s regional training scheme (click here to download PDF of regional training scheme), equipping them to facilitate the resourcing pastoral carers course and in some instances the developing quality relationships workshop. The training the trainers course will accommodate a maximum of 10 participants who will need to undertake an application process and afford their own costs

EXPLORING PASTORAL CARE

A RESOURCE FOR ALL & SOME OF CHURCH

This 6 session, self-led small group course considers a Christian perspective of pastoral care, dimensions and definitions of pastoral care, who is called to care for whom, caring qualities, Jesus the carer, listening to others, to God and to ourselves, confidentiality and resources. Each session is designed for 1½ hours and offers opportunity for bible study, discussion, sharing and reflection. The course comes in a workbook, which each group member will require and contains the material for each session and guidelines on how to use it. It builds on the understanding of developing quality relationships and is a useful step into the ‘resourcing pastoral carers course’ for SOME people who want to more specifically develop their call into pastoral care.
